Child Development: The Importance of Play in School Life

The Importance of Play in Promoting Healthy Child Development

Virtually every child, all over the world plays. The drive to play is so intense that children love to engage in play and is fun for them. Researches in the Early Childhood Care and Education revealed that these playful activities benefit the development of the whole child across social, cognitive, physical, and emotional domains. The United Nations High Commission on Human Rights has recognized play as a fundamental right of every child.

“The principle goal of education is to create human resources who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done—People who are creative, inventive, and discoverers.”    – Jean Piaget

Play is a central component in holistic growth

Indeed, play is such an instrumental component to healthy child development and it has to be a central component in developmentally appropriate educational practices at the early year foundation stage. Laurel High Global School taps the potential of Children Play for meaningful learning. In the most formative years of development, children are very impressionable and hence it is the right time to inculcate real-life skills through Play.

Play is the central activity in the life of a child at Laurel High Global School, and through our creatively structured, teacher-guided activities, children learn naturally to think, to solve problems, to achieve goals, to express their ideas and emotions, to cooperate, to collaborate and to respect each other. Playing equips them with necessary skills like teamwork, sharing, the excitement that comes after a win, the learning that comes after a loss. The play also imbibes the spirit of discipline among children. Play fosters opportunities to develop motor skills, coordination, balance and muscle tone. It is an outlet for children to release energy and challenges their developing physical bodies.

LHGS inculcates Play & Learn Culture

While having fun they are developing the social, emotional, physical and cognitive foundations to succeed — not just in school, but throughout their lives.  We invigorate, inspire and challenge our children to achieve personal mastery, passion for learning and be a responsible global citizen and exercise leadership to make this world a better place to live.

At LHGS, holistic child development is the fulcrum around which our ecosystem is built. “Laurel High Global School” is a Children’s Museum that amuses the learning process by promoting opportunities to learn through playful contexts to build the foundations for motivated, healthy and happy children and productive society.
